Jim has a diverse and extensive background in the oil and gas industry. He began his career in 1981 as an exploration geologist in Midland, Texas, generating and developing drilling prospects and operating oil and gas producing wells. For the bulk of his career, he managed the University of Texas, Permanent University Fund Lands (commonly known as “UT Lands”)—one of the largest mineral assets in the Permian Basin. Jim worked for UT Lands for 28 years—most recently serving as the Executive Director for 4 years until his retirement on December 31, 2014. As a part of Source, Jim leads opportunity sourcing and valuation efforts.

Before co-founding Source, Brandon served as Manager of Land and Legal for Dorchester Minerals Limited Partnership, a publicly traded master limited partnership that owns producing and non-producing crude oil and natural gas mineral, royalty, overriding royalty, net profits, and leasehold interests located in 574 counties and parishes in 25 states. Before that, he served the State of Texas as General Counsel IV in Energy Services group of the Texas General Land Office under the direction of former Commissioner Jerry Patterson. Brandon began his career as an oil & gas attorney at Locke Liddell & Sapp. As President, Brandon has final oversight for opportunity sourcing, technical, land, legal, and financial operations. His primary focus is opportunity sourcing and investor relations.

Before joining Source Minerals in March of 2015, Ben served as Senior Landman for FireWheel Energy, an EnCap Investments L.P. portfolio company, pursuing primarily acquire-and-exploit opportunities. At FireWheel, Ben facilitated multiple company projects as the only in-house landman including the acquisition of 800 plus leases covering 170,000 net acres on the eastern shelf of the Permian Basin. Before that, he worked as an in-house landman for Discovery Operating in Midland. As Land Manager for Source Minerals (Source Fund I), Ben oversaw all land functions, along with managing all acquisition and business development efforts. In Source Fund II, Ben will develop and maintain business development pipelines, direct the day-to-day land functions, manage contract landman in the field, and oversee the technical acquisition details.
General Counsel and VP of Acquisitions
Lesley began her career in the oil and gas industry in a dual capacity as a landman for Orange Energy and a title attorney with BCDA Law. Subsequently, Lesley founded her own firm Benson Siebenhausen, PLLC and has provided legal and title services to numerous oil and gas companies from exploration and companies to mineral acquisitions companies. Lesley received her BA from Austin College and her JD from Texas Tech. As Counsel to Source Fund I, Lesley oversaw all title, due diligence reviews and curative for acquisitions and provided final acquisition approval as it related to such issues. As General Counsel for Source Fund II, Lesley will expand her legal role and provide general legal counsel as well as continue to provide title and acquisition advice and opinions. Further, as VP of Acquisitions, Lesley will have final sign-off authority on the status of title on all transactions.

Hunter began his oil and gas career working as a field landman conducting mineral and surface title research and lease acquisition in East Texas and the Fort Worth Basin. In 2006, he transitioned to a land services company in Midland, TX, assisting multiple clients in various title research and leasing responsibilities throughout the Permian Basin. From 2008 until late 2011, Hunter contributed to OGX’s efforts building sizable asset packages in Winkler County, Texas and the Delaware Basin of Southeast New Mexico. Hunter joined Red Mountain Resources in 2012 as a Senior Landman, where he led the construction of a formal land department for the startup energy company. In Late 2012, Hunter joined Laredo Petroleum, Inc. in Dallas, where he handled land responsibilities varying from lease and drilling operations, broker and project management, as well as multiple acquisition projects for the company. He held that position with Laredo until the company closed its regional office in Dallas in January 2015. Hunter joined the Source team in 2015 as a Senior Landman and has managed working interest and mineral acquisitions since that time. His role in Source Fund II will expand to manage the land function, including managing field land work and prospect generation.

As a third-generation landman and native of Midland, Texas, Jeff McDaniel is very familiar with the oil and gas industry. He began his career in land work in July 2011, as a field landman, conducting mineral and leasehold title research in various counties across West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico. In May 2012, he accepted a position as a contract landman working exclusively for one of the largest independent oil and gas companies in the Permian Basin. In that position, he was responsible for mineral, leasehold and surface ownership determination, as well as numerous title curative projects involving complex title issues. Jeff joined Source Minerals (Source Fund I) in April 2015, as a Landman, primarily focused on mineral and leasehold ownership determination, as well as identification and curing of all title defects affecting Source acquisitions. As a Senior Landman in Source Fund II, he will continue to focus on ownership determination in high-priority areas, and title curative.

Prior to joining Source, Geoff spent 12 years in dental sales working for a Fortune 500 company. Currently, Geoff contributes to Source through working interest and mineral/royalty interest acquisitions, division order management, along with implementation of a land software program for the company. In Source Fund II, his role will be continued prospect generation, interest acquisition, along with software management and best practices development for the company.
